The Experimental Aircraft
Association (EAA) is an international organization
of aviation enthusiasts based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Since its inception
it has
grown internationally with over 160,000 members and about 1,000 chapters
worldwide.
Chapter #1220 of the Experimental Aircraft
Association
is Headquartered at 5NC3
Gilliam-McConnell Airfield in Carthage serving the
Sandhills area
of North Carolina.
We provide an active community resource for local
airplane enthusiasts,
airplane builders, and pilots. We also reach out to
the community by raising awareness
of aviation, most notably by our Young Eagles program where kids learn about
airplanes
and might even start a lifetime interest that leads to a lucrative aviation
career.
If you're interested in planes and flying, please drop by for a meeting at
9:00 AM on
the
third
Saturday of every month. Our meetings are located in our
EAA 1220 Clubhouse on the airport side of the runway
Directions
. Take
a Left on the first street North of the Pik-n-Pig entrance. Go to your
next Left. (dirt drive). Take a Right at its end. Our clubhouse has a wood
shade porch and EAA 1220 sign.

You don't need to be
a licensed pilot, own a plane, or be in the process of building a plane to
join, but after
hanging around us there's a good chance you'll build a plane, buy a plane,
or get your
pilot's license. If you're interested in aviation, we're interested in you.
